IAEM’s Outlook on China

Asia has been the most disaster-prone region in the world, suffering earthquake, influenza and terrorism in just the last few years. We have found that emergency managers in China and throughout Asia are eager to learn from their colleagues and peers in other counties to mitigate, prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters faster and more effectively. IAEM is the leading worldwide organization for networking, education and training for emergency management professionals.

IAEM was established as the U.S. Civil Defense Council in 1952, grew into the National Coordinating Council on Emergency Management, and in 1996 became the International Association of Emergency Managers – reaching out to emergency management professionals on a global scale. With recent unprecedented growth in membership worldwide, IAEM can share the experiences of global emergency managers with emergency management professionals in China.
